No don't see a countdown. Hello, everyone, and welcome to our what's new in Magic Control X and Zeiss webinar. My name is David Arena, and I'm part of the three d scanning team here at GoEngineer. Because we haven't had a webinar for a bit on these softwares, we'll look at some of the highlights of the last two releases of each software. For transparency, note that this is just capturing some of the new improvements and enhancements, so I won't be covering everything that's new due to time. That said, let's get started. Starting with ctrlX, inspection reports can now be exported in DMIS, a dot dmo file, a neutral file format for improved compatibility with other metrology systems. Visual scripting has been expanded with new actions and parameters, providing more flexibility and alignment with Magic Control Oryx capabilities. Text scripting has been significantly enhanced to improve usability, automation, and compatibility. Key improvements include updates to the Python scripting, and select by geometry is now supported. Macros are recorded in real time, and reports can be exported as dot dmo files, plus an improvement in the three d compare command. Both text and visual scripting have been enhanced to provide greater flexibility and control enabling more interactive and automated workflows. You can now set the projected tolerance zone modifiers through scripting for the GD and T Oqton shown here, enabling more complete automated GD and T workflows. So So you can see with the g d and callouts here, we're talking about position, perpendicularity, angularity, parallelism, and concentricity. Split mesh enhancements have been made to both Control X and Design X resulting portions are now preserved automatically as individual meshes UltiMaker tool entities such as planes, solid surface bodies, and two d and three d sketches are now supported. So let's take a look at how that works. So here we have a single mesh, and we have four surface bodies that intersect that mesh. We're gonna come up to the split command and use all the surfaces as tools, and we're gonna also say cap section ends. So when we split that, you can see now we've got four resulting independent meshes. We can select to keep all of them or just what we want to keep. So I'm just gonna select the two here and, turn off the surfaces, And now you CAD see the resulting meshes, and they've been CAD, so they're watertight at the intersection. Here, we're gonna do the same thing, but basically use a different type of tool. So instead of surfaces, I'm going to also uncheck the capception ends, and I'm gonna use my three d sketch as a tool. So you can see the sketch gets highlighted, and now I've got four independent Metal. And again, I'm just gonna pick two of them to keep, and you can also see that they are not capped because I turned that option off. So that's the result of using the new split tool. Concentric multiple profiles can now be capped, producing cleaner results, reducing the need for additional repair options. So what that means is basically we can cap these without having to use the fill hole command, which could take several steps to do so. So let's go ahead and see how that works. So we have a single mesh with a plane that intersects there on the left side. We're gonna come up to the split command and use the plane as a tool, and we're gonna select the back to keep. So you can see doing it that way that it leaves the profiles open. So with the other option we have, capping the section ends this time, I'm going to use the same plane and split CATIA, again keeping the back, and say okay. And you can basically see that it kinda acts as a trimming tool, but also closes up the profiles. Mesh decimation now considers design intent producing higher quality results, particularly for tessellated meshes used in three d printing. The algorithm has been updated to ensure that it always yields a watertight mesh with no defects and achieves the target polyfaces count. Improvements have been made to the color averaging accuracy within the three d compare tool. When using selected data only, the averaging now prevents the color map from extending beyond the selected geometry. So we CAM see the update here on the left, on the color averaging accuracy and its predecessor on the right where that color map kind of extended beyond that top face. So that's been an improvement to the software. Color maps can now be exported as textured mesh files with color. Dot MDL, OBJ, WRLL, and ICF files can now be exported. Constructed geometry tools now include a new option, show tolerance color on preview. In addition to showing the fitted deviation, you can now preview tolerance colors while reviewing the fitting results in constructed geometry commands. So you can see basically on the screen the color there on constructing that plane. That color, basically correlates to the color map Oryx color bar, excuse me, on the right side. And in this case, everything that's in green is within tolerance that the user sets. The reset toolbars command has been renamed to reset layout. This command resets the entire user interface layout to the default, restoring toolbar positions and applying optimized view updates. Also No the toolbar visibility command next to the reset layout. This could be a kind of a small thing, but it's a big thing because, in in training students over the years, you know, people like to mess around with the with the layout and everything, and sometimes the icons or toolbars or ribbons, just go away, and it's, sometimes a chore to get them back. So this these two buttons, really, expedite, the layout to make it correct. The new shrink-wrap tool creates a single watertight mesh from one or more meshes by capturing only the external mesh surfaces. It automatically repairs gaps, holes, and other mesh topology issues and removes internal structures not needed for downstream applications like three d printing. So let's take a look at how this works. So here we've got this, fire hydrant, kind of more of an assembly of meshes versus a single mesh. And, you can see here as I zoom up on pretty much all of these groups of meshes that they're all open ended. So this most likely came from, like, an animation program. We're not designed for manufacturability, but here we the context is we want to, three d print this. So if we look at the internal structure, you can see that they're intersecting each other as well as well as being open. So if you try to run this file in most, slicing softwares for three d printing, there's a good chance that it's gonna fail because it can't really solve those open, ended, files as well as the intersection. So that's why we have this new tool called shrink-wrap. So let's, position this in a good position. We'll come up to the polygons tab, and we're gonna run the shrink-wrap command. All the meshes are targets, so there's seven meshes here. We're going to we can change some of the parameters. For example, I'm gonna increase the, the maximum triangles count to a million. That's gonna pretty much ensure that the detail is preserved. I'm also gonna turn on this option here and run that command. And so it basically adds an additional mesh. I said to keep the originals. So now there are eight meshes in the session. The last one being, which should be watertight. Again, I'm gonna turn on the view clip just to kind of look at the internal structure again and just kind of visually looking to see if there are any issues that I could Peel, and it looks pretty clean. So I'm gonna go ahead and close that up. Another thing we can do is if we select the mesh on the tree, come over to the properties dialogue box, it says boundaries count zero. That means that there are zero holes in the data. So this is suitable for three d printing. In addition to bodies, faces can now be individually selected as target entities in the following pattern commands, mirror, circular, linear, and curve. So let's see how that works. Hey, We have. a solid body don't see any single right now. Thank. you so much CAM up to the curve everything. pattern, and like I said, we've always been able to do bodies, So now we can do faces. we can I'm gonna pick up. that cut on the side and the and the floor or the the bottom face there, and the path is gonna be this three d sketch that's kind of on the edge of the solid body there. You can see we have some parameters equal spacing. We can turn that on and off. Maybe we wanna just put a nominal number in there. We can also say rotate
